Empowering Youth Through Participatory Action Research: HIPS’ Talo Wadaag 2 Programme
In a significant stride towards youth engagement and empowerment, HIPS’ Talo Wadaag 2 Programme, under its Benadir youth engagement activities, conducted a full-day interactive Participatory Action Research (PAR) workshop on February 26th, 2023. The primary focus of the workshop was to delve into the perceptions of youth regarding governance, state-building processes, factors hindering their involvement in governance and politics, and their potential roles in conflict prevention.
The PAR workshop received positive acclaim from participants, who actively engaged in the activities designed to foster a deeper understanding of crucial societal issues.
Beyond acquiring knowledge, participants expressed a heightened sense of awareness and responsibility towards being integral contributors to the state and social recovery processes, especially in the aftermath of protracted violent conflicts.
The workshop also proved to be effective and impactful, leaving a lasting impression on the participating youth. It not only equipped them with valuable insights into governance and political processes but also instilled a sense of duty towards actively participating in the betterment and state-building of their nation. HIPS’ Talo Wadaag 2 Program continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing informed and engaged young leaders who aspire to contribute meaningfully to the socio-political landscape of Somalia.
