Youth Activism for Social Change: The Rights and Responsibilities of Youth in Public Life
This was a one-day workshop held in Mogadishu, Benadir, on June 12th, 2023. The workshop was part of a series dedicated to Benadir youth in 2023. The objective of this workshop was to help young people understand their rights and responsibilities in engaging in Benadir governance, politics, peace, and state-building from the point of view of activism, peacebuilding, good citizenship, and the Islam. The workshop was interactive and facilitated by well-informed local experts with a sound understanding of the local context, needs, and sensitivities. According to feedback from participants, the workshop was well-received. A total of 32 young people (16 young women and 16 young men) attended, representing two youth organizations: the Somali Youth Development Network and the Somali Youth Civic Organization.
